Step into the confidence and relief of trusting who you are.
If you struggle with self-doubt or low self-esteem, you may have learned to make yourself smaller to stay connected or keep the peace.
Over time, these once-helpful strategies can show up as:
People-pleasing
Difficulty setting boundaries
Attraction to emotionally unavailable partners
Doubting your perceptions
Feeling unsure of what you actually want
What once protected you may now be keeping you from feeling secure, grounded, and confident in yourself. Therapy provides a safe, compassionate space to explore these patterns and begin stepping into trust, clarity, and ease in your relationships and life.
Self-Worth Isn’t Just About Confidence
Feeling unsure of yourself isn’t a flaw — it often comes from the ways you’ve adapted to relationships to feel safe or valued. You may have prioritized others’ needs, silenced parts of yourself, or over-functioned to maintain connection. Those strategies helped you survive and belong — but they can also leave you doubting your instincts, overthinking choices, or attracting relationships that feel uncertain.
Self-worth isn’t something you can build with affirmations alone. It grows when you understand the patterns that shaped how you relate, reclaim your voice, and learn to trust yourself.
In our work together, we won’t just try to “boost” your confidence.
Through gently exploring the patterns you find yourself repeating, the parts of you that over-function or over-accommodate, and the younger experiences that shaped how you relate, you may begin to notice a shift.
You may start to:
Trust your instincts
Set boundaries without overwhelming guilt
Choose relationships that feel mutual
Stay grounded when closeness feels uncertain
Over time, confidence naturally grows as a byproduct of self-trust and understanding yourself more deeply.
Hi, I’m Alexandra Sechler, a licensed therapist and board-certified art therapist offering virtual therapy for adults in New York.
I specialize in working with thoughtful, sensitive adults who struggle with self-doubt, low self-worth, and feeling unsure of themselves in relationships and life. You may over-accommodate, question your instincts, or work hard to maintain connection — even when it comes at a cost to you.
Often, these patterns began as intelligent ways of adapting when important emotional needs weren’t fully met. What once helped you stay safe or valued may now leave you feeling small, anxious, or disconnected from what you actually want.
In our work together, we gently explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion. My approach is relational and collaborative, grounded in attachment theory, somatic awareness, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Together, we’ll build the kind of self-trust that lets you exhale and feel at home in yourself — more clear, steady, and confident in who you are.
